Arriving to the temporary accommodation
On your arrival day, the coordinator of the temporary accommodation will give you the keys and show you around. The coordinator is a student herself and she has her normal studies, so she is not available in the student village every time. So, please, try to tell her in advance your exact arrival date and time. Upon arrival, be prepared to show your passport and some kind of confirmation that you are accepted to study.
If possible, print and fill in this form before coming to the temporary accommodation (you can also fill in a paper version on site).
- [New form for 2012 is being updated and will be added here.]
The coordinator of the temporary accommodation will meet you in front of the restaurant Rentukkain the student village (address: Taitoniekantie 9) on your arrival day.
The temporary accommodation resembles a hostel: you share a room with several people, men and women in different rooms. There are mattresses in the accommodation room, but you need your own pillow, a blanket and linen or a sleeping bag (for guests coming from far away there are some pillows and blankets reserved). You can find some photos of the accommodation facilities here.
You can also use laundry rooms of the student village. There is a cash machine nearby. You cannot use Internet in the accommodation; the nearest Internet can be found 200m away in the restaurant Rentukka or in the nearby library.
If you come from the railway/bus station (both stations are situated in the same place called Travel centre, “Matkakeskus”), you can take a bus to the Kortepohja student village (called “Kortepohjan ylioppilaskylä” in Finnish). Here you can find detailed information on how to get there: Alternatively, you can walk from the railway/bus station – the distance is only about 3 km. This saves you money, because one bus ride costs 3,10 €/one way (between 23 and 04 o’clock even 6 €). If you come by car, you can leave it in the free parking lot of the Kortepohja shopping centre (Pehtorintie 4, near the Sale shop).
