Minea Nirhamo is the new substitute for the Specialist in Academic Affairs

Minea Nirhamo is JYY’s new substitute specialist in academic affairs. Nirhamo has started in the role on February 16th and will work in the role until January 22nd 2027.

Nirhamo has studied to be a teacher in the University of Jyväskylä. She graduated as Master of Education in January 2026. 

Previously Nirhamo has worked as a student representative in the University of Jyväskylä and as an advocacy board member and chair of the association Pedago ry. 

“It’s an honor to get to work on academic affairs and advocacy in our student union”, Nirhamo says. 

“I’m looking forward to getting to work to advance students’ issues and to be part of the advocacy work in the beginning of the (new) higher education group.” 

The specialist in academic affairs Works to advance university students’ interests in Jyväskylä and nationally. She advocates for students in the university’s different working groups and directly with university staff. In addition the specialist in academic affairs is responsible for the selection and training of the unversity’s governing bodies’ student representatives and advices students on issues regarding students’ rights.
