Loan & rent items
You don’t need to own everything yourself! In Rentukka we have loads of items to loan & rent. We have cleaning equipment, tools and all kinds of fun stuff for free time activities. In Rentukka Lobby you can now find a loan item machine, where you can rent various items from sewing machines to textile cleaners and tools.
The machine is operated through the Lainappi app. This way, you can easily borrow items by picking them up from the machine whenever it suits your timetable.
List of the loan items in the loan item machine:
- Textile cleaner (temporarily out of use)
- Vacuum cleaner
- Ladder
- Sewing machine
- Toolbox
- Hammer drill
- Electric hand mixer and immersion blender
- Mölkky and pétanque
- Camping hammocks and suspension ropes (2 pcs)
- Drill / screwdriver
- Window cleaner
- Garment steamer
- Waffle maker
Instructions for Renting:
- Download Lainappi to your mobile device
- Select the “Rent from Box only” option on the landing page and type “Soihtu” in the search field to browse the selection from this box.
- Go to the item listing you want to rent and press “Rent”. You can schedule the rental for your desired timeframe.
- Once your rental reservation is confirmed, you can open the box directly from the app.
- You can return the item at any time within the rental period by opening the box through the app.
NOTE! Tenants of Soihtu have access to the machine 24/7. If you are not a tenant of Soihtu, you can pick up rental items only during Rentukka restaurant’s opening hours. Please keep this in mind when renting items.
Other shared items
Loan items are owned by the Tenants’ Committee of Kortepohja Student Village and all Soihtu’s tenants and JYY’s members can loan and rent them.
You can inquire about other loanable items directly from the Tenants’ committee.

• Snow sleds (7 big ones, >5 small sliders)

• Tennis (2 rackets, no balls)
• Badminton (4 rackets & 2 shuttlecocks)
• Pesäpallo/Finnish baseball (3 bats, >14 gloves, a few balls)
• Darts
• Yard games (mölkky, croquet, 3x frisbee)
• BBQ griddle pan (for fire usage)
• Triangia camping cooking set (requires own spirits/alcohol fuel – not for fire usage!)
• Camping tent (4 people, 4kg, slightly waterproof)
• Board games
• Bingo machine
• Cleaning kit for floors: mop, bucket & brush
• Bicycle pump (located in Work shop)
• DVD movies (located in Club room)
• Hand truck (located in Work shop)
• Hot glue gun
