Teemu Vasama has been named JYY’s new Executive Director. The Representatives’ Council made the decision in its meeting on August 28th.
Vasama has worked as the substitute Executive Director since September 2023. Before that, he has been the Chair of JYY’s board in 2017 and the specialist in academic affairs from 2022 to 2023.
“I’m immensely grateful for this trust. JYY has been a significant community for me for a long time and it is a great honor to get to continue to work for a better student union with our great team”, Vasama says.
The president of the Student Union Hilma Hintikka, who led the recruitment team, is also delighted about the decision.
“We were glad to choose the new Executive Director from a group of high quality applicants. Vasama has performed astutely as the substitute and we are happy that the successful work together continues. We’re very confident that he is the right person to take JYY forward”, Hintikka says.
The Executive Director is responsible for and leads the student union’s service- and advocacy work. Their responsibilities also include administration as well as preparing the decisions of the board and the representatives’ council.
