More than 50 subject and hobby associations operate within JYY. The student union provides associations with guidance, financial support, training materials, and other services aimed at improving their ability to operate for the benefit of students.

Registration

To utilize the services offered by the student union, associations must register with JYY annually and provide up-to-date contact information for their boards.

Associations, student groups, and individual students operating within JYY can apply for grants to organize projects and events.

JYY provides associations within its sphere with events, training materials, rental spaces, and equipment loans to support their activities.

Guidance

The student union supports association actors in promoting student well-being and student culture, as well as in advocacy-related tasks. JYY offers advice on matters such as activity planning, administration, and financial management.

Associations within JYY can book a consultation appointment with the Association Specialist or invite the specialist or a Board member to attend their meeting. Requests for guidance can be sent by email to the Board member responsible for associations or to the Association Specialist. During the central office’s opening hours, you can also visit the Association Specialist without an appointment.

  • strengthening the advocacy role of subject associations
  • association legislation
  • amendments to rules
  • association administration and finances
  • auditing (operational audit)
  • meeting procedures and preparation of meeting documents
  • planning and implementation of activities
  • founding and registering a new association
  • JYY’s activities
  • other issues related to association activities

JYY’s Member Services and Association Specialist, as well as the Board member responsible for associations, offer assistance with matters related to association activities. If your association needs support in advocacy, sustainable development, or internationalisation, you can contact the specialist responsible for the respective sector directly.
