Jigotai is the largest and oldest martial arts club in Central Finland, offering training in eight different disciplines.
Taijiquan – or Taiji for short – is an ancient Chinese martial art that has become popular especially for its health benefits. Its principles emphasize natural and flowing full-body movements combined with breathing and mental focus. The movements are often done slowly, making them easier to learn.
In addition to Taiji, we practice Qigong, which includes traditional Chinese medicine-based breathing, energy work, exercises, and self-care techniques.
The style we represent is called Modernized Taiji, to distinguish it from other styles. The focus is on practicing forms, with the martial aspect shown through partner exercises that demonstrate the principles.
In Qigong, we practice standardized forms by the Chinese Health Qigong Association. We also include some Dao Yin Yang Sheng (DYYSG) Qigong.
We are a member club of the Finnish Wushu Federation, and our head coach is Shifu Zhang Fang from Helsinki Wushu.
