The environment competition of JYY’s Subcommittee for Environmental Affairs is open until Sunday 18th of November! The winner is going to be rewarded with a prize of 300 euros. In addition, a prize of 50 euros is going to be given to the best spurrer. Good luck!

We are accepting applications for posts of members of the Executive Board, the Chair of the Council and the Vice Chair of the Council. The call is open 7.-26.11.2018. JYY IS LOOKING FOR TWO DEVELOPMENT COOPERATION COORDINATORS!

Do you want to work in the field of development cooperation? Are you interested in project planning and management? The Student Union’s (JYY) Subcommittee for development cooperation is looking for two Development cooperation coordinators whose main tasks are active participation to the planning process of JYY’s new project(s), application for funds and project coordination. Acting as the coordinator provides an excellent opportunity to learn about development cooperation and project management in practice. The work begins immediately. The dates of the training will be mutually agreed upon. A nominal compensation is paid for the position.

CYCLING WINTER EVENT AT THE UNI

Cycling is fun around the year! The Finnish Cyclists’ Federation organises the national Cycling Winter campaign on 12.- 18. November. During the week, we organise five events, where we give out cycling lights to cyclists who don’t have one. On Wednesday, we are in front of building L. We offer warm drinks and small snacks to people moving on foot and by bicycles. We also give out vouchers to Ride Cycle Store for changing spiked tyres to your bike (spiked tyres -15%, changing tyres -50%).

Too best! The Student Union of the University of Jyväskylä organizes the best party of the autumn at the Student House Ilokivi. Join the loskafest! The fest includes music by artists such as Akseli Hiltunen and Color Dolor and also traditional (or not so traditional) Finnish indoor-outdoor partner dancing!

WEEKEND THESIS UNDERTAKING

Weekend Thesis Undertaking (WTU for short) is weekend dedicated to writing your thesis. Why? Because peer pressure works! So take your laptop with you, bring yourself to the club room in F-building, meet others who are also battling with their Master’s or Bachelor’s thesis, set a goal for the weekend and share it with the others. Then just get to work! On Sunday we will check how these goals are accomplished.

FESTIVO! MA NON TROPPO / SINFIS 25 YEARS CONCERT

University of Jyväskylä symphony orchestra Sinfis has a concert in Kuokkala church to celebrate the ochhestra’s 25th anniversary. The audience will enjoy Antonín Dvořák’s eighth symphony and Edvard Grieg’s piano concerto. Talented young pianist Lauri Forstén will be the soloist of the piano concerto. Mari Karppinen will be the conductor of the orchestra. Program 13/8 €.
