JYY supports the students occupying the University of Jyväskylä with regards to their objectives on students’ livelihood, mental health services and free education. The occupation has been organized by the students independently and JYY is not part of it.
JYY opposes the government’s planned cuts to students’ livelihood. The policies of the government do not answer the long-term problems relating to students’ well-being and livelihood.
Many students live on the poverty line and any cuts would continue to weaken students’ well-being.
The occupations organized by students both in Jyväskylä and across the country show that the student community opposes the government’s planned cuts.
JYY encourages students to actively influence societal issues and is glad that students are taking part in fighting for the position and possibilities of students both today and in the future.
